Increase your customer retention.
Your customer likely doesn't know how to be successful at CSA right off the bat.
They're gonna hit a wall the first year.
Why? Because your customers are learning new habits and routines with CSA, and that's hard for the brain to do.
The good news is that this is absolutely normal.
But here's a truth that many CSA farmers don't know:
As long as you know the obstacles your CSA members will encounter early on and introduce quick wins to overcome them, you will help them stay motivated to push through the wall and keep growing.
In fact, once they start learning some simple CSA hacks (that seem intuitive to you but feel like a-ha moments for them), they will feel like a confident home chef -- a better version of their former self.
And they'll thank you for it by renewing year after year because they can't imagine their life without you.
The key to all of this is embracing your role as a teacher & guide -- and building a Success Path that shows them how to get started cooking with vegetables.
Then teach it over and over again as a system.
I can help you figure this system out.
Access to my farm CSA's comprehensive, digital learning library to guide and inspire your own CSA Customer resources each week of your season.
When you join my CSA Academy, you'll gain access to my CSA farm's curated selection of member support resources ==> ready for you to use and implement whenever you need them, as long as your monthly subscription is active.
I organize the Academy content into 6 sections, so it's easy to find what you need.
What specific skills and knowledge do we want our brand new CSA members to know before they begin the season? We created this 1 hour mini course that breaks it all down into small bites, and we send our new members here to watch it once they've joined. See what's included and use it to inspire your own onboarding content.
Our members go here when they need inspiration or guidance for a specific vegetable. Not sure what to do with kohlrabi?... Find the chapter on Kohlrabi and watch the short video training OR download the PDF guide all about kohlrabi, including 5 recipes.
When veggies begin to stockpile, or when CSA members struggle to know what to do with their fridge backlog, we send them to the Exit Strategies module. This section includes over 15 video tutorials and guides for common cooking strategies like pesto, sheet pan meals, and the all-popular "green cubes." I think this is the best part of the Academy, because it delivers so many "a-ha moments" to our members. Download the cheatsheets to shorten your content creation process!
Each week, I upload my CSA farm's latest edition of the newsletter, recipe PDF, and Unboxing Video from the Facebook group. Use this module to help you see a template for an engaging newsletter (steal my ideas for articles), and file away our recipe suggestions. Study our Facebook group's weekly unboxing video (how we structure them and what we talk about), and try making your own on your FB business page. This video is cited by our members as the most valuable content we provide.
Many CSA members are intimidated by the pressure cooker. In this module, I share the different features of the Instant Pot step by step in short video tutorials. Each tutorial slowly builds their confidence as they prepare a meal using the featured lesson. It also includes a Recipe PDF for beginners. Use this as a guide for how to teach the Instant Pot!
Turn your CSA members into BULK BUYERS (aka more revenue) by teaching them how to can. This module includes a mini course on Canning Basics, as well as many individual video tutorials where I walk my customers step by step through 8 different canning sessions so they feel confident to try it on their own. It also includes downloadable illustrated guides that show the process as well in case you want to share them with your members.
Each lesson contains either a PDF guide, infographic, cheatsheet, or recipe collection. As a member of the Academy, you can use them as a jumping off point to make your own version on Canva.com. Or just use mine for your farm (as long as your subscription remains active).

Thank you for valuing my intellectual property. The answer is yes, you can use/share my exact PDF guides with your CSA members, but you must keep my branding on it. However, nothing is stopping you from picking out your favorite resources in my Academy, using them as inspiration, and making your own versions on Canva.com with your branding. That's what this membership is designed for -- to help you "see what's possible" and give you a template for designing your own version. Theoretically, you could make nearly identical copies of my resources over the course of a year and then use them for life!
The videos are for your internal viewing only, and meant to be an inspiration to you so you can design and make your own version.
If you like what you see inside the Academy, and you'd like to be able to give all your members monthly access to the Academy, you can reach out to me to arrange a slightly discounted monthly fee for your members using a personalized coupon code.
Hmmm, not really. The Academy content is designed for a vegetable CSA -- not a meat CSA. There are no resources for meat producers. Shared Legacy Farms uses a traditional CSA model. We do not customize the shares, so everyone is getting the same box experience each week. If you are a free choice CSA, the majority of the tools inside the Academy can still be utilized.
There's already a LOT in there! LOL. But yes, every season, we add a few more lessons to the Academy, as we continue to teach our CSA members new skills. For example, every year we add a new canning session to the Canning Club module, create new Recipe Compilation Ebooks, or add an additional vegetable tutorial to Veggie University. We also regularly update older videos to make them more concise or current. As a member, you'll benefit from this constant expansion of fresh content.
The last thing I want to do is lock you into something you don't use. You can cancel your monthly or annual membership whenever you want. Simply head to your account settings and hit CANCEL. If you need help figuring this out, you can email me directly at sharedlegacyfarms@gmail.com. Note: if you cancel your membership early before the renewal date, you will still have access until the day your membership would have renewed. No pro-rated refunds are offered for membership cancellations.
The Academy is hosted on a platform called Teachable. When you enroll in the Academy, you’ll receive an email confirmation that contains a link to the Academy. Once you get to my Teachable school, you will see the 6 different modules (or courses) that are part of the Academy package (Roadmap to CSA Success, Veggie U, Recipes & Resources, Vegetable Exit Strategies, Instant Pot Course, and Canning Club). You can then click on these icons to enter the different courses. Then find the resources inside -- click to download them as PDFs to your computer.
Choose either the monthly or annual subscription. As soon as you join, you'll get immediate access to ALL the resources inside.
You probably have something that's piqued your interest. If so, start there! Personally, I recommend you start in the "Roadmap to CSA Success" course, and see what I consider to be the "most important" stuff you should teach first to your members.
Start with a goal of producing or releasing a helpful tip every 2 weeks. Use your FB page, FB group, email broadcasts, drop-off sites, or newsletter to share your content. You'll notice an almost immediate effect on the momentum and enthusiasm of your members.

Hi, my name is Corinna Bench, and I used to have a retention problem. In 2016, I decided to interview 30 of my "best CSA members" to try and figure out why they were succeeding with membership, while others were not.
The result was a clear roadmap of milestones, mindsets, and skills to fast-track my new CSA members towards success. In 2017, I began to teach this "CSA Customer Success Path," and I saw an immediate increase in customer growth and loyalty. The next year we hit 75% retention. I believe that it was this focus on customer training that led to these results.
Perhaps you're also ready to embrace your role as a CSA guide, but you're not quite sure what they need to know. I can help.
I'm now giving you complete access to the entire digital library of resources that I curate for my CSA.
You'll quickly be able to see what you should teach and how you should teach it so you empower your CSA members for success. You'll help your CSA member feel like a winner, and in the process build their loyalty that will make them renew their membership year after year.
I'm excited to help you grow your CSA business rock solid, and I know this resource will move the needle for you. If you're committed to investing in your members, I can show you the way...
